<div itemprop="description">GARDNER, Thomas J. (Jeff) - Peacefully at Belleville General Hospital on Wednesday, August 26th, 2015 in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of Carolyn Gardner (nee - Denny). Predeceased by his first wife of 46 years Laura Gardner ( nee - Down). Loving father of Deborah Marr (Mike Rosko) and the late Howard Gardner. Step - father of Elizabeth Corty and William Burton. Thomas will be missed by sisters in law Kathryn Halfman (Michael) and A. Jean Berg and brother in law Douglas Denny (Janice), their son Darrell (Jennifer) and daughter Laura Sumner (Allen) and their families. Jeff retired from Bell Canada after 37 years. He was a member of St. Matthew's United Church and served as treasurer for 24 years. Jeff was an active member of the Belleville Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America, including serving a term as President. He taught computer skills to seniors and helped raise funds for the Oncology Department at Belleville General Hospital where he had volunteered for several years. Our thanks to the Victorian Order of Nurses and the staff at Belleville General Hospital for the consistent tender care given to Jeff for the last seven months of his life. Memorial donations to the Canadian Lung Association or St. Matthew's United Church would be appreciated by the family. <br /><br />A Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthew's United Church on Friday, September 4th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation commencing from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
